The Schnitzelwirt Foodtruck is offering Austrian/German deliciousness!

Meet Mario Milkovics, born and raised in the eastern part of Austria, Burgenland, Mario came to the US in 1985 to visit family. As it happens to many Austrians, once they get to know the American way of life, they stay! Mario worked in IT for a financial service company for a period of 20 years, but felt like something is missing. His first job ever was working at the Hotel Sacher in Vienna as a “Koch-/Kellnerlehring” – translated waiter in training – and since then he was always drawn to the gastronomy. So in 2018 Mario and his partner Erika began to cater as a side job for little get-togethers, weddings and offices lunches. In 2019 they started building out their food truck. But not just any food truck of course. With his heritage it needed to be a food truck catering German cuisine with Austrian style, called The Schnitzelwirt!

Mario and Erika’s side-business became really successful and in July 2020 the Schnitzelwirt food truck was in business full time! The timing of this was challenging – the COVID-19 pandemic just started. But it turned out it was actually a very good timing. People were starved to eat out and food trucks offered an option that people don’t have to cook at home and still were able to enjoy a cooked meal while keeping the social distance.

The Schnitzelwirt food truck usually services Aurora, Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch, Lakewood, but goes further north up to Thornton and Longmont and south to Castle Rock. Other areas can be serviced too, but Mario needs to double check if his license extends to this area. Unfortunately, he cannot work in the City and County of Denver because he let his license expire, but this may also update as there had been a lot of interest in him serving the residents of Denver proper.

The regular menu includes Wiener Schnitzel, Jägerschnitzel German Style (breaded since American like it that way, not the Austrian Style), Bratwurst, Currywurst (nach “Bayrischer Art”, which is far more complicated to create than the Berlin Art, just being Ketchup with Curry powder) and of course Käsespätzle and Apfelstrudel.

Seasonal items offered are Ungarisches Rindsgulasch in the Winter as well as delicious Palatschinken with Marillenmarmelade.

The Food truck usually resides at a variety of places that offer drinks, such as Breweries, but Mario is able to offer drinks (even Almdudler!) if requested in advance.

To learn where the Schnitzelwirt is available each week, follow them on on Facebook and Instagram.

You can also pre-order by Sunday for the following week. If you want to have the Schnitzelwirt come to your location for a special party, contact Mario! But just to give you a warning, he is usually booked out 3 months in advance!
